I recently decided it was time that I had a name logo for my Soundcloud artist page instead of the random ass photo of a teddy bear sitting on my Ableton Push. Initially, I thought to myself about sucking it up and re-learning Photoshop. I mean, I’ve done it before and it’s not rocket science. But I read a chapter in Dale Carnegie’s book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” where he spoke of some of the greatest achievers of our time. He mentioned how some of the most accomplished people aren’t necessarily the best at doing everything, but they are seasoned at having a vision and involving others to help achieve that vision.
So I jumped onto Craigslist, posted a request for a designer, and received a flood of artists interested in contributing. It took me two days to finally chose the most suitable artist for my needs. One week later, he delivered something I would have taken weeks (possibly months) to create. I can definitely say I understand the purpose of any successful artist having a team to achieve great success. The more you can divvy up long and short term responsibilities to a team, the more time you have to focus on your art.
